The business was founded in 2005 in Whitianga with the goal of providing quality fishing gear to the New Zealand market. Not long after, the business introduced a range of fitness and sports products catering to a wider segment of the leisure retail market. Steady growth has seen the business relocate from Whitianga to Silverdale where it now operates from.

In 2015 the business acquired Allied Outdoors Ltd, adding a stable of well-recognised quality brands to the range. In 2017 the company rebranded to Fishing and Leisure Group Ltd, to signify the importance of the growing range of products in the sports, leisure and outdoor categories.
